Preparing for Storage

For the first 2 weeks of March, Park Branch Staff worked hard to prepare the collections for storage. We cleaned materials, we made sure the shelves were in order, we moved storage collections upstairs, and we went through branch files. Meanwhile books continued to be returned through the bookdrop and from other branches. There was so much to do!

Then, due to the heavy rains, our internet connection was completely lost! All of our work came to a screeching halt. Luckily the Library's IT Department was able to connect our staff computers to the wireless network and get us up and running again within a few days.

During the second week we moved all of the furniture toward the center of the room to make space for the hundreds of boxes the moving team would use for the collection. The branch looked empty without the library users, tables, and chairs.

Branch staff needed to have the entire collection ready for packing by day's end on March 12th. Through hard work and persistence, they managed to get everything ready for the moving team, which will come on March 13th to pack up the branch.
