The work continues!

Things are progressing nicely at the Park Branch. As you can see from the photo on the left, the florescent lighting is now completely gone from the Reading Room! The old Circulation Desk has also been removed, making way for the new teen space in the north east corner of the room.

Downstairs this month's work is even more dramatic. The dust and rubble we saw in the construction photos from May have cleared and walls are being framed.

Plumbing was laid in the trenches that were visible in the May photos of the downstairs. The photo on the left shows the plumbing for the new public restrooms at the north east corner of the building.

Work in progress!

We have our first action shots of work being done inside the Park Branch! As you can see, major work is being done on the ground floor.

Upstairs, the flourescent lights on the ceiling are coming down, to be replaced with beautiful pendant fixtures. This picture shows the workers taking down the old lights.

This final shot shows the emptied reading room and the scaffolding used to remove the lighting. We can't wait to see the improvements the pendant lights will bring to our library.

Construction Has Begun!

Today after storytime I drove past the Park Branch and saw that work has begun on the renovation project! The contracters have put up a chain link fence and I could see workers were busily doing things inside the branch. It was great to see that things are underway!
